December 2008
A week before Christmas Herbst Queen was found to be in a lot of pain and although everything was done to try and save her she just got worse and the decision to put her to sleep was very sadly made.
|
Vicky who is the proud owner of Singing Schwalbentanzer goes out to her first dressage competition and gets a super score of 74% in a prelim 1. Vicky has only had "Tanzer" since August and it was love at first sight and they seem to have formed a wonderful partnership. We can't wait to hear how they do next time out. |
September 2008
Chabrol has been exempted in the UK to further performance testing due to exceptional circumstances, which means all his foals to pure bred Trakehner mares (that is graded into the main stud book) can now get pink papers. This is great news as Chabrol was injured in his performance test and can not be ridden again due to shoulder damage.

Our colt by Cadeau out of our wonderful Premium
mare Aida by Sixtus, Singing Alondo, has been selected for Neumunster.
We made the trip to Germany together with Alondo and stayed at the
Gestut Ganschow where together with five other stallions, he was
presented for the selection for this years coming grading and auction in
Neumunster. He was selected together with two other stallions both home
bred by Ganschow. We are absolutely delighted as it is only the highest
quality of horses that gets selected to go to Neumunster. We now wait
with excitement to see how he will get on in October. The reason we
haven't been to any shows this year is that they all ran on the dates
when we where in Germany with Alondo.

Singing Horatio, son by Arentino did his NaStA Performance test and passed with flying colours scoring very high marks and passed with a Elite 1 status. Horatio was produced and ridden by Sam Smith who has done a fantastic job with him and a big congratulation to Sam and Horatios owners Keatinge Stud.
Singing Heaster qualifies for the winter regional winning with 71.20%. Congratulation to Chloe and Heaster and we look forward to more news on how they get on at the winter regional's.
Tragedy of Trakehner horses in Spain
|
It is with the deepest sorrows and regret that we have had to come to terms with the fact that horses sold by us to Miss Suzy Jenkins have allegedly starved to death in Spain. We sold the horses to Miss Jenkins over three years ago and then she took the horses out to Spain late 2007 and newspaper reports in Spain allege that she ran into difficulties paying for hay, food and water for the horses when drought set in. We have been told that many Spanish and ex-pat British neighbours offered to help Miss Jenkins as many others in Spain have had the same problems this year but Miss Jenkins refused the offer of help. We have been told that the Spanish Government has taken custody of all Miss Jenkins horses. Spanish law is quoted in the English language Spanish Press as saying that all horses must be put to sleep as no one should benefit from such a tragedy and to prevent the horses ending up in a situation like this in the future. We are in contact with a welfare organisation in Spain that is trying very hard to resolve all these practical and legal difficulties, but as I will hope you will all understand, it is both difficult and very upsetting for all of us at The Singing Stud. Both World Horse Welfare (ILPH) and the RSPCA are showing concern, and we are most grateful for any help they can give. Seven years ago The Singing Stud together with Bluewood Stud rescued 36 horses from Italy which where apparently suffering the same fate as the horses, which are in the ownership of Miss Jenkins. We hope everyone understands, therefore, that we are absolutely devastated that this should happen to these horses. We thank everyone for their emails and phone calls of support. |
June 2008
Singing Horatio wins dressage competition at the Arab and Trakehner show with a very high score of 75.6%. A VERY BIG congratulation to his owner Keatinge stud and to Sam Smith his rider, as Horatio looked absolutely amazing.
Singing Hernando is a super star when being places 7th in his very first dressage competition. Steff (his owner and rider) said “we did really well in the warm up and I thought yeah we are going to take this one, but then Hernando suffered from stage fright and we got placed 7th”, which “we think” is really fantastic for their first ever time away from home. The following weekend Steff and Hernando came 6th so it looks like the pair are moving up and up each time out. A big congratulation and good luck in the future.
April 2008
Singing Halando does a wonderful job when in his first event class comes 6th out of 24 horses. Well done and we look forward to see how he gets on next time out.
Singing Horatio comes 19th in his first event class out of 30 horses. What a fantastic day out for Keatinge stud and Horatio’s rider Sam Smith
March 2008
Our first foal of the year is born. It is a wonderful strong black colt by Chabrol out of our wonderful mare Charisma. Csiko has very long legs and three fantastic gaits.
February 2008
Singing Horatio attended the stallion show and we are told he was the star from all the stallions attending. We look forward to updating everyone on his progress now he is ready to start his competition.
The Singing Stud wins on appeal to keep all buildings at their yard in Much Marcle, where the main horses are kept. They have also won the right to finally build a staff house so they can get live in horse people to work at the stud and keep a 24 hour eye on everything. It has been a VERY long and hard fight, which has been quite unjustified due to a neighbour which thinks that only he and his wife are the only ones with the right to improve their business and life. We are glad that the appeal person could look through all the lies and harassment these people has caused us for so very long. A shame that it seems to be Herefordshire Council was in on it all.

We sadly lost our TB mare Deaconess. She began to
go down very quickly and seem to have died of a hearth attack. Deaconess
did have a kidney problem four years ago with the vet telling us we
should have to wean her foal early and put her to sleep but I declined
and with proper care she seem to recover to the delight of us all. She
gained another three years and died at the age of 23 years.
