Purchased from Neumunster auction in Germany as a 3 year old, Charisma was the unchallenged and charismatic Champion mare of the 2006 central mare grading in Schleswig-Holstein. Her impressive frame and her powerful movement hold great promise for a future in breeding. Just as her dam, Charisma has completed a very good mare performance test. Interesting combination of the half TB stallions Donaumonarch and Marlon based on a branch of the Corry family bred and maintained by the Harder family. Charisma looks very much like her very stunning grandsire Donaumonarch and beautiful sire Elite stallion Manrico.

Manrico is a dressage stallion successful up to Inter I level in Germany. He was approved based on his performance test at the Trakehner grading in Alsfeld and is stationed at Majenfelderhof in Germany.

Manrico" has a very athletic and forceful appearance, his broad and strong shoulder are responsible for ground covering movements being marked by a positive high knee action, combined with an impressive self-carriage and an excellent reliability for rhythm. His strong and expressive joints and limbs are another good point on his credit side. Manrico is one of the most successful sport horse sires in the Trakehner breed. He was described by the breed director as: "Manrico is a athletic and energetic stallion with large shoulder that allows for a flamboyant use of the front leg with good knee action. Always in excellent self-carriage displaying an excellent feel for rhythm and balance. Very good foundation with large joint." In many ways, this is also an accurate description of his offspring and Manrico has proven to sires exceptional daughters and very good performance horses. He is a clear dual-talent and produces that in his offspring. His FN and Trakehner Verband breed index shows that to be a fact.

Manrico was the Reserve Champion of the 100 day performance test in 1995 in Warendorf: Total Index: 129.15 (2/20) – dressage Index: 134.64 (2/20) - show jumping Index: 108.63 (5/20). He got 9 for character and ride ability

Breed index:

  1. FN 2008: ZW dressage 126 (88%) - ZW show jumping103 (75%)
  2. Conformation daughters (26): type 122, upper body125, foundation 93, walk 118, trot 129, canter 128, overall impression 128, TOTAL ZW 127 (33/203)

"Manrico's" offspring is convincing with nobility, beautiful modelled conformations, correct joints and limbs suiting the body, smooth actions and great impulsion in the basic paces.

His offspring compete in dressage at S level and with Don Juan M, he also produced a horse qualified for the Bundeschampionat in eventing (2007 and 2008). Don Juan M later became one of the top sellers at the Top Eventers Auction in Luhmühlen (39.000 €)

Manrico’s dam St.Pr.u.Pr.St Marcia II is a daughter by the Ibikus son Vincent and  Marcia II also produced the outstanding stallion Märchenprinz (by Equador xx). Her dam Maike is dam of the graded stallions Maifeuer (by Vincent) and Morgenstrahl (by Tannenberg).

Manrico’s sire Gipsy King is one of the breed's best sport horse sires. His offspring excel in dressage at Grand Prix level and also jump well above average in competition. Gipsy King was also Reserve Champion of the stallion performance test and is now chief sire at the national stud Moritzburg. Gypsy King is a full brother to the dam St.Pr.St Gipsy Lady, which is by the Danish Champion stallion Camelot. Camelot is a son of the successful Grand Prix dressage stallion Arsenal. The granddam, St.Pr.St. Grazie II, has won many prizes in breeding and sport. She was Champion mare at several broodmare shows and participated in the Bundeschampionat twice. The great grandsire Arogno (our stallion Arentino’s uncle) is regarded as one of the trademark sires of post war Trakehner breeding. Gypsy Lady is also the dam of Birkhof's Grafenstolz TSF. Gypsy King also sired the excellent premium stallion United Kingdom (out of a TB mare).

Charisma’s grandsire Donaumonarch was born in 1988 and was sired by one of the best known Thoroughbred stallions in the Trakehner breeding program Sir Shostakovich. With a jumping index of 135.4 points, Donaumonarch set up a new record for Trakehner stallions. He won many show jumping classes up to medium level and qualified for the Federal Show Jumping Championships in Warendorf and he was also placed second of the German team at the Nation’s Cup in Insterburg. Donaumonarch also jumped at the Galashow at Neumunster clearing a oxer with 20 centimeters and the jump was 1,80 meter at the time. Donaumonarch carried on to become an international show jumper under Burghard Wahler and produced the graded son trakehner stallion Tycoon. Tycoon was the dam sire of the 2004 Champion and Reserve Champion in Neumünster, a feat no other stallion has ever achieved. The second sire Marlon was a full brother to the legendary stallion Mahagoni, and the third sire Ginster made a name for himself as a good broodmare producer. One of his best daughters was the elite mare Herzchen, who founded a magnificent family of approved stallions and competition horse.

This performance-oriented stallion has a top class pedigree. His Thoroughbred sire, Sir Shostakovich one of the most popular Thoroughbred stallions in the Trakehner breeding, raced and won in Ireland and Germany. Worth mentioning is the impressive jumping ability of his progeny, which might be the reason why the Holsteiner bought him. Sir Shostakovich xx, was stationed with the Holsteiner breeder's association, because of his pedigree and enormous jumping ability. Sir Shostakovich xx sired two graded sons in Holstein from his first foal crop. Grandsire Rheingold xx, in addition to several other wins, won the prestigious Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe, a sure indicator of class, ability and stamina. Sir Shostakovich xx founded a new stallion lines through his sons Donaumonarch, Sir Chamberlain, Couleurfurst, Zenturio, Mataro, Chateauneuf and Best Before Midnight. Donaumonarch is linebred four times to Nearco xx and two times to Furioso's sire, Precipitation xx. Donaumonarch followed an excel. Donaumonarch's dam Donauquelle is from the family of Donna, an original Trakehner Main Studbook mare and is a full sister to the sire Donauglanz. In 1994 Donauquelle enjoyed much success at the Federal Mare Championships: She and her 3 daughters won the title of Federal Champion Broodmare Familly. Many, many state premium mares and graded stallions descend from this mare family.

Donaumonarch is approved for: Trakehner, Hanoverian, Oldenburg, Saxon-Anhalt, Mecklenburg-W. Pomerania

Charisma is a very elegant lady and came third in the mare Championship at Neumunster and was a favourite with many people there. She has proven to be a very good broodmare passing on her wonderful frame, long legs
and her foals have her fantastic movement with high positive knee and hind action.
