About Us

The Singing Stud is situated in the beauty of Herefordshire, 10 minutes from the M50 between Ross-On-Wye and Ledbury. We have 115 acres of grass with post and rail fencing and magnificent views all the way around us.

The name Singing was taken up by Marleen Fewtrell when she decided to breed Coloured competition horses and needed a prefix. She thought it sounded happy and as she lived in rented accommodation at the time, she did not want to use the name of the building she was in, as she was hoping to move soon. When Edward and Marleen finally found a home suited for them and all the horses, she was already introduced to the Trakehner horse. She fell in love with the kind temperament, stunning movement and overall the breed. She decided to sell all the coloureds and start a high quality stud breeding Trakehners. The prefix Singing was by now registered with so many society that it seemed silly and expensive to change it and that is why the stud has it name SINGING today.

Over the last few years we have spent much time to get a Trakehner herd based on beauty, correct confomation, temperament, movement and with a top quality pedigree all from proven competition bloodlines.

Our intention is to breed quality competition horses for the international competition circuit and by combining proven competitions bloodlines, we hope to do just that.

The Singing Stud has been very successful at showing and winning championships since they started showing in the year 2000 and have graded two home bred stallions both by Arentino.

The Singing Stud has three graded Trakehner stallions.

Arentino our residential stallion was chosen for his outstanding movement, kind temperament and fantastic conformation. He is very closely related to Schwadroneur (now deceased and Sire to Blue Hors Hertug). Arentino competed in dressage up to Prix St. George and also did very well in show jumping, something he himself prefers to do. His dam Elite mare Arktis II is a full sister to the Elite stallion Arogno a very influential stallion of most breeds today.

Chabrol was bought from the 2001 auction in Neumunster by Marleen's husband Edward and with help from Erhard Schulte. He is a very powerful moving stallion and very much like Arentino with an outstanding temperament. He arrived home in April 2006 and has started his covering duties and his first crop of foals have been quite amazing in type, movement and temparemant.. Again this is a top class stallion with excellent proven bloodlines in competition with a fantastic conformation, movement and temperament.

Singing Herbstglanz, our second home bred graded stallion out of Arentino's second crop of foals. Singing Herbstglanz graded with the Trakehner society in England in 2007 and is a stallion with fantastik movement in all three gaits. A truly amazing horse for top level competition.

Oh though the stud mainly consist of Trakehners, it has also several Thoroughbred mares, which are bred for National Hunt racing. Marleen also bought her coloured mare Gypsy back in 2003 and Gypsy's foals has always been very good, but since using the Trakehner stallions on her they really have the movement to.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Erhard Schulte for all his help in setting up this web site, without his help this site would not be what it is today. Erhard has done so much research for us and with his help we have, gained so much information on all the horses featured on this web site and we hope that all the readers who do log onto this site might gain a bit more information on some of the Trakehner bloodlines that they might not have had.

THANK YOU ERHARD FOR ALL YOUR HELP
